EVALUATION & IMPACT DOCUMENTATION

Addressing Violence Against Women: Oak Foundation in Mexico

Civil society organizations in Mexico have achieved important milestones in women’s rights. Through a mixed-method evaluation process, INNO documented a series of achievements by organizations participating in Oak Foundation’s Issues Affecting Women Program (IAWP). The IAWP focuses on supporting civil society organizations promoting improved responses to violence against women and girls, from prevention to assistance and reduction. The evaluation was commissioned and supervised by Hispanics in Philanthropy’s Gender Program in Mexico.

Migrant women in Mexico and access to international protection

In September 2022, the Instituto para las Mujeres en la Migración (IMUMI) completed the project Increasing Access to International Protection for Migrant Women Victim of Gender Violence in Mexico. Through legal representation, emotional support, and case documentation, IMUMI created a comprehensive intervention that helped close to 150 survivors of gender violence. As a result of the intervention, a significant number of those women embarked on a fruitful asylum process in Mexico, and an even greater number received emotional support regarding the violence they had endured. In 2023, INNO conducted the project’s evaluation. Both the project and the evaluation were conducted with support from the UN Trust Fund for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
